a few of our Spring favorites…

So, when you come across something that catches your eye, makes you feel a little different when seeing it for the first time, or even brings on memories of another fantastic event in your life…it’s worth adding to the ‘keeper’ file.  I’ve always been a fan of creative (fancy or not) and different (fancy or not) PAPER.  I think that an image, a texture, or even just a layout can capture someone’s personality or intention for anything.  Super important to have your wedding invitation, dinner party note or milestone occasion…sum up who you are.  And if you don’t spend a fortune while getting there…extra bonus.

For this, I’d suggest www.newandblue.com.  They have a comprehensive website and blog as well as a retail location in the Pearl District.  Take a peek.  Tons to choose from, and my guess is, one will fit your style, attitude and event, perfectly.

Another part of your event that will scream who you are/what you enjoy/mood for the event…is flowers.  Of course all shapes, sizes, colors and seasons…but what about when you come across one that just hasn’t hit you the way others do?  I’m a tulip fan.  I love the colors, I love the shape … I just love having them all over the house in Springtime.  When I saw this David Austin Rose, my jaw dropped.  Looks like a cross between a rose and a ranunculus, right?  Or a peony?  Something just says elegant, feathery (is that a word?) about this rose…and I’m a fan.  They sure do make beautiful bouquets!

And lastly, for this rainy Spring day entry…Wood.  Wood circles have come into play for weddings and events with full force.  And I’m not talking about finished wood.  This is wood in it’s rawest form…think: slices of the tree trunk, sometimes even complete with moss and bark!  Whether it’s a outdoorsy theme or even just being outdoors in the elements; wood charger plates, candle holders, place cards, lighting etc…and it looks great.  What do you think?  What are some other ways you can play/add wood accents to your everyday home? Doesn’t have to be your cabin in the woods either…

Enjoy Spring!
